We also oversee the Elevate Fund, which invests in small, fast-growing New Zealand companies.
At the Guardians there’s an energy, passion and a shared commitment to excellence: in 2022 the NZ Super Fund was named the world’s best-performing sovereign wealth fund. The work is complex, innovative and intellectually stimulating. Sustainable finance, including a commitment to being net zero by 2050, is core to our Mātāpono / Way of Working.

It is also responsible for defining the partnering, prioritisation and business relationship model for our Technology business unit. The BSG collaborates widely internally and manages a network of external partners to help deliver initiatives as well as identify and implement improvements to our practices.

About the position:

The Test Manager is responsible for leading the development, management and continuous improvement of our technology quality assurance (QA) strategy and framework, ensuring alignment and appropriate integration with our delivery, change, and risk frameworks.

The role is a mix of leadership and hands on work across automated and manual testing for a primarily Microsoft environment.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Establish and manage frameworks and tools for software testing processes, ensuring that a risk-based testing approach is followed.
  • Provide expert advice, training, and guidance to teams on test strategies and approaches to ensure high quality outcomes, and act as a point of contact for testing-related queries.
  • Evaluate and implement test automation tools and frameworks and promote test automation to increase efficiency and test coverage.
About you:

We are looking for a Test Manager with 5+ years of experience who has demonstrated software QA and testing success across strategy, management and execution in transformational programmes of work.
  • Comprehensive understanding of software testing methodologies and the ability to apply modern testing techniques that are fit-for-purpose and accelerate test delivery without compromising quality.
  • Understanding of change management and the positive role testing can play in enhancing change and business engagement and outcomes.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop appropriate recommendations.
  • Experience with test automation tools, frameworks and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple initiatives at a time to deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure environments and Microsoft products.
What we offer:
  • A dynamic, exciting place to work with a team united by our common purpose of sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders.
  • Competitive remuneration package including base salary, discretionary bonus programme, and up to 8% KiwiSaver matching.
  • World class professional development, career pathways and job rotation opportunities.
  • Comprehensive leave and benefits programme including strong parental leave package and insurance cover.
  • Flexible and accessible work environment that reflects our commitment to equity and an inclusive team.
