Job description

This SaaS business has made massive waves in its industry since day one, and has won numerous awards.  People come here to do meaningful work, solving challenging problems in a high performance environment.  They are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace where their people can be their whole selves and do their best work.

Although people do work from home when they need to, this business does promote an office first culture and encourage their team to be in the office as much as they can.  This allows the team to foster stronger relationships, do more meaningful work and be a high performing team.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user interface of this company's products. You will work alongside a team of engineers, designers, and product managers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help define the technical direction of our frontend architecture. The ideal person is not only a hands-on coder but also a strategic thinker who can contribute to the overall design and user experience strategy.

  • Hands-on frontend development delivering tested and reliable software through to production
  • Work with other software engineers and product specialists as part of a cross-functional agile team, contributing to your teammates’ results, encouraging cross-pollination of roles, stretching the team to continuously inspect and improve, and encouraging collaboration and task sharing
  • Maintain high levels of communication with your team and others about product requirements, timelines, risks, and priorities
  • Join your teammates in ensuring your systems are always available and responsive, as part of the on-call roster, following good reliability engineering practices
  • Stay up-to-date with your area of expertise and ensure the team is aware of new technological advances and better ways of working
  • Promote best practices and new technologies among your peers to help nurture a world-class engineering culture
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to help define and implement the frontend architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Develop high-quality, responsive, and intuitive user interfaces using the latest technologies.
  • Help drive the adoption of best practices in frontend development, code reviews, and continuous integration.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for their incorporation into the development process when relevant.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure a seamless and visually appealing user experience

  • An excellent track record working as a frontend engineer, with examples of outcomes that you have accomplished and feel meaningful for you
  • Experience working with modern cloud-based distributed systems (especially in the AWS context)
  • Experience working in agile development practice, in a cross-functional development team
  • Someone who is product-orientated and cares about customer experience, being able to solve real-life customer problems
  • Experience working with any front-end tech stack! React Native would be a HUGE bonus but most importantly, they are looking for someone who is super passionate about what they do and is eager to learn!
  • Sound understanding of how to develop testable systems and write great automated tests
  • Understanding of common development processes such as version control, continuous integration/delivery, code reviews, and pair programming
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and the ability to work closely with designers
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating frontend applications with backend services
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
