ABOUT THE ROLE:
Headquartered in Wellington, they are looking for a Head of Engineering to scale their Engineering team, develop their physical products managing teams across hardware and software development, and drive the creation of technical specifications.
This role can be based anywhere within New Zealand, with travel required to the Wellington HQ 1-2 times per month.
You’ll be reporting directly to the CEO and will be take ownership of the hardware development lifecycle as the primary lead. Your responsibilities will include:

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Headquartered in Wellington, they are looking for a Head of Engineering to scale their Engineering team, develop their physical products managing teams across hardware and software development, and drive the creation of technical specifications.

You’ll be reporting directly to the CEO and will be take ownership of the hardware development lifecycle as the primary lead. Your responsibilities will include:
- Define the engineering strategy for our robotics product line and oversee the full development lifecycle, from concept to production.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Manage all validation phases (EVT, DVT, PVT) to ensure product reliability, quality, and manufacturability.
- Partner with product, operations, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to align technical delivery with business goals.
- Implement robust development processes, drive continuous improvement, and proactively manage technical and compliance risks.
ABOUT YOU:
- 10+ years’ experience in hardware and software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
- Strong technical background in robotics, hardware development, embedded systems, and multidisciplinary team management.
- Deep knowledge of the hardware product lifecycle, from concept to mass production, including EVT, DVT, and PVT stages.
- Proven experience working with manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Strong program management, product leadership, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
