Digital Solutions Architect – 12-Month Contract
An exciting 12-month contract opportunity, with the possibility of an extension is available with one of New Zealand’s most respected technology consultancies. This organisation partners with leading enterprises on complex, high-impact digital transformation programmes.
In this role, you’ll act as the Principal Architect on a major multi-year transformation for an international client. Working alongside product squads and senior stakeholders, you’ll design and govern Azure first, microservice based solutions while driving best practices in DevOps, application modernisation, security, and cost optimisation.
You’ll work closely with delivery teams to lead end-to-end Azure solution architecture, ensuring technical excellence and scalable outcomes across all phases of the programme.

You’ll work closely with delivery teams to lead end-to-end Azure solution architecture, ensuring technical excellence and scalable outcomes across all phases of the programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead end-to-end Azure solution architectures, including landing zones, microservices, event streaming, and data platforms for mission-critical workloads.
- Define domain-driven designs, API contracts, and integration patterns that support performance, availability, and global scalability.
- Embed best practices in DevOps, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), promoting automation, blue/green deployments, and FinOps principles.
- Lead architecture sessions with executives, product owners, and delivery partners, providing technical governance across sprints and releases.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering knowledge transfer and architectural consistency across projects.
- Proven experience designing cloud-native, microservices-based, or event-driven systems on Microsoft Azure for large-scale enterprises (5,000+ users, multi-region).
- Strong understanding of containerisation and modern API management; able to guide teams using orchestration platforms.
- Solid foundation in software architecture (DDD, REST/GraphQL, messaging) with strong knowledge of infrastructure, networking, and security.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills—able to communicate complex technical concepts with clarity and confidence.
- Knowledge of Zero-Trust security, DevSecOps, and FinOps desirable.
- Microsoft Certification in Azure Solutions Architect or DevOps Expert preferred.
- Familiarity with AKS or other orchestration platforms advantageous.
