About the Role

This contract focuses on the end-to-end rollout of a new payroll system, working across the New Zealand and Australian business.

As the Business Analyst, you’ll play a key role in supporting a major data migration initiative, ensuring payroll and HRIS data is transitioned accurately, securely, and with minimal disruption. You’ll work across business and technical teams to capture requirements, map current-state processes, and validate data throughout the migration lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Business Requirements Gathering: Facilitate workshops, interviews, and analysis sessions to understand business needs across payroll, HR, and finance stakeholders.
  • Process Mapping: Document current-state and future-state workflows, focusing on payroll operations, data flows, and system touchpoints.
  • Data Migration Analysis: Define data mapping rules, transformation requirements, and validation criteria for payroll and employee data.
  • Gap & Impact Analysis: Identify discrepancies between source and target systems and assess business impacts.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the bridge between business users, technical teams, and vendors to ensure clear communication and aligned expectations.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed BA deliverables including BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process documents, and data dictionaries.
  • Change Support: Assist with training materials, communications, and readiness activities linked to payroll process or system changes.
What You’ll Bring
  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst within complex programmes.
  • Hands-on experience supporting data migration projects, ideally involving HRIS or payroll platforms.
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes, rules, compliance, and data structures.
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into clear technical specifications.
  • Confident facilitator, able to work with both SMEs and technical engineers.
  • Clear documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience with UAT, data validation, and supporting cutover/hypercare phases
