A day in the life of a recruiter - Claire Lowe, Talent Delivery Manager

At Brightspark, our success lies in our ability to harness the unique strengths of our team members and support them in shining at their fullest. Claire Lowe, our Talent Delivery Manager epitomizes this approach. She has not only grown with the company but has also played a pivotal role in its growth. Claire's role has evolved to encompass a wide range of responsibilities, making her an invaluable asset to our team of consultants.

So, we thought, why not take this opportunity to reintroduce our fantastic team at Brightspark, so you can get to know them better and gain some insights into the life of a recruiter. Let’s jump into it with Claire.

How Do You Start Your Day?

Claire starts her day with a warm, welcome from the friendly barista in our building to grab her first coffee of the day. Once she’s fuelled up, she heads to the office to review the applications that have come in overnight and then scans candidate profiles online to identify any updates from those who might be relevant for her roles. After this initial prep, she’s on the phone for the rest of the day, connecting with potential candidates and clients.

What Sets You Apart From Other Recruiters?

Claire has been in the industry over a decade, so there aren’t many software companies she hasn’t encountered. This gives her a comprehensive understanding of the field. Claire’s passion and genuine enjoyment for her work is what truly sets her apart. This enthusiasm translates into a real commitment to finding the right fit for both clients and candidates, making her a standout in the recruitment world.

What Are the Most Challenging Aspects of Your Job?

Recruitment, by nature, involves a lot of complexities and unknowns because it’s working with people. Claire finds that balancing these variables is one of the most challenging aspects of her job. She emphasizes that a (good) recruitment process is more of a consultation than a transactional one, involving a lot of balancing and pulling different levers to match the right candidates with the right roles. Her ability to navigate these complexities with empathy and professionalism is a testament to her skill as a recruiter. This nuanced understanding of people and processes is key to her success in delivering top-tier recruitment solutions.

What’s Your Favourite Part About Working for Brightspark?

Claire finds great satisfaction in her work, but ultimately, although “cheesy,” recognises that it’s the team at Brightspark that makes her work most enjoyable. She admits, recruitment isn’t the easiest job and there are a lot of highs and lows. But if you have the right people around you, the job is a lot more enjoyable.

What’s Your Favourite Lunch Meal?

Claire has many classics faves, but something new to hit the leaderboard is the spicy tuna sandwich from Glorias; the new sandwich shop in town!

What Sparks You Up When You Aren’t Recruiting?

Outside of work, Claire finds joy and relaxation in spending time with her beloved fur baby, Evie. She loves discovering new parks and walking routes around Auckland and enjoys taking weekend trips to Ruapuke. These activities help her recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance, enabling her to bring her best self to her role at Brightspark.

We hope you enjoyed this insight into Claire’s role and daily life. Stay tuned for our next feature where we’ll be chatting with our team manager and Principal Consultant, Louise. Sneak peek: Louise and Claire have bonded over their shared love for dachshunds!
