ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will report to the Data Analytics Lead and work closely with the team's DBA and Data Engineer to develop and maintain their data assets.

This is a 6 month contract role, and will be based in their offices 3 days a week (work 2 days from home), in Auckland City Fringe. 

The role has a strong focus on leading and delivering SQL Server migrations, supporting system modernisation initiatives, and implementing robust database administration practices to ensure business continuity, scalability, and operational reliability across critical platforms.
  
ABOUT YOU:
  • Extensive experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments in enterprise settings
  • Proven experience delivering SQL Server migrations and version upgrades
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server installation, configuration, maintenance, and patching
  • Experience with database backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning
  • Experience with high availability solutions (e.g., replication, clustering, Always On Availability Groups)
  • Strong performance tuning and query optimisation skills
  • Experience working with cloud‑hosted database platforms and hybrid environments
  • Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code or automation tools is desirable
  • Experience working within data governance and security frameworks including PII handling
