BrightSpark are partnering with a well‑established New Zealand technology consultancy to find an experienced Technical Lead – Full Stack Developer to join a team working on mission‑critical, security‑sensitive systems.
This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical engineering lead who enjoys mentoring developers, improving application security, and modernising large, complex systems using modern engineering practices.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll lead a small team of developers while remaining deeply involved in hands‑on delivery. You’ll contribute to the design, development, and security hardening of front‑ and back‑end applications, working closely with stakeholders to ensure systems are robust, scalable, and secure.
You’ll play a key role in improving security practices across applications, addressing vulnerabilities, influencing architecture decisions, and leveraging modern tools, including AI‑assisted development, to drive efficiency and quality.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and mentoring a team of developers
- Improving the security posture of front‑end and back‑end applications
- Writing clean, maintainable, well‑tested code
- Contributing to architecture and technical design decisions
- Participating in code reviews, Scrum ceremonies, and continuous improvement
- Working with stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, scalable solutions
- Staying current with security trends, threats, and best practices
- Leveraging AI tools to enhance developer productivity
Essential experience:
- 8+ years’ commercial experience in full‑stack software development
- Proven experience leading development teams
- Strong background in secure software development practices
- Hands‑on experience with:
- C#/.NET (.NET Core)
- ASP.NET Web APIs
- Azure (Functions, API Management)
- SQL Server
- Strong front‑end experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS
- Experience working with large or legacy codebases
- CI/CD pipeline experience (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with non‑technical stakeholders
- Experience using AI coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot)
- Experience with front‑end testing frameworks (Jasmine, Karma, Cypress)
- Exposure to Agile delivery environments
