ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Security Engineer is responsible for the engineering, operation, and continuous improvement of the company's security controls, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.
This role has ownership of detection, response, logging, and control implementation aligned to ISO 27001 and company risk obligations. The role partners closely with the IT team, service desk, and external security providers to ensure security is embedded, measurable, and auditable.
This role will engineer and operate security tooling and controls across endpoint, identity, cloud, and network domains, own security monitoring, detection, and incident response for the NZ environment, implement and maintain ISO 27001-aligned technical controls and evidence, reduce organisational risk through proactive security engineering and automation, and provide clear security insight, metrics, and risk visibility to the Head of IT.

ABOUT YOU:

In addition you will need:
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft security tooling (Defender, Purview, Entra, logging/SIEM)
- To be comfortable leading or actively participating in incident response
- Ability to work independently and pragmatically in a small but mature IT team
- Experience operating in a professional services or regulated environment highly desirable
- Security certifications are a bonus (eg Microsoft SC‑series, GIAC, CISSP), but practical experience matters more than paper credentials
