Job description
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join a high-performing ICT team on a contract basis. This role is a backfill position with a strong focus on supporting and maintaining on-premises and Azure SQL environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on DBA who thrives in BAU support while contributing to critical enterprise systems.
Our client is keen to get someone onboard ASAP for an early July start. The contract currently goes through to September 30th, with potential to extend through to December 24th, 2026.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support on-premises and Azure SQL database environments
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of database systems
- Monitor and optimise database and infrastructure resources
- Perform incident response (break-fix) and troubleshooting
- Manage database access, roles, and permissions
- Conduct security monitoring and compliance activities
- Deliver patching, upgrades, and ongoing system maintenance
- Collaborate with ICT project teams to support project delivery
- Maintain stability across database and integration platforms
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the environment
- Significant experience as a Database Administrator working with:
- Microsoft SQL Server (on-premises)
- Azure SQL and related services
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
- ETL processes
- Change Data Capture (CDC)
- T-SQL scripting and performance tuning
- Azure DevOps
- Azure Key Vault
- Proven experience in database monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Logic Apps
- .NET development (C# and/or VB)
- JSON, XML, JavaScript
- PowerShell scripting
- HTML
- A proactive and detail-oriented DBA
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently in a BAU-focused environment
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
