ABOUT THE ROLE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designing, building and maintaining modern cloud-based data pipelines that reliably move data from source systems into the data platform
- Transforming raw data into well-structured, analytics-ready datasets that the team love to use
- Ensuring data quality, integrity and governance standards are embedded into everything you build
- Work closely with analysts, data scientists, IT and business stakeholders to understand the needs and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
- Monitoring data loads, troubleshooting issues and resolving failures to minimise business impact
- Exploring new data sources and continuously improving how data is collected, stored and used across the business
- Supporting analytics, reporting and machine learning initiatives with high‑quality, timely and well‑documented data
- Sharing insights, explaining data clearly, and helping lift data literacy across the organisation
- Keeping up with data engineering trends and bringing fresh ideas that add real value to the business
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer who is passionate about their craft and quality of work. With a strong understanding of Big Data, you'll have a mix of technical capability, curiosity and commercial thinking, along with:
- Strong experience designing, building and maintaining data pipelines and data platforms in a cloud environment
- Confidence working with large, complex datasets and turning them into well‑structured, reliable data that others can easily use
- Solid knowledge of SQL and/or Python, and experience working with modern data tools and warehouses
- A good understanding of data quality, governance and why trusted data really matters to decision making
- The ability to connect technical work to real business needs—understanding what people are trying to achieve and how data can support that
- Experience working closely with analysts, data scientists and non‑technical stakeholders, and explaining data clearly and simply
- Experience with Databricks and Snowflake is highly desirable
